A fire at a U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) warehouse in Busan has been contained with no injuries reported.
A fire at a U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) warehouse in Busan’s southeastern port city has been brought under control with no casualties, officials reported Friday.
The Busan Metropolitan City Fire Disaster Headquarters confirmed that the fire response system was lifted at 7:34 a.m. after gaining control at around 7:24 a.m.
The blaze, which began at 6:31 p.m. Thursday, occurred at the USFK facility 320 kilometers southeast of Seoul. Over 160 personnel and 51 firefighting units were deployed to contain it.
Officials stated the fire originated in a cold storage area inside the warehouse, which was under construction. Fortunately, all workers had vacated the site after finishing construction work, and the fire did not extend to nearby structures.
Firefighters faced challenges extinguishing the flames due to the warehouse’s sandwich panel structures and the amount of construction and combustible materials present. They continue to put out the remaining embers.
The warehouse handles the distribution of USFK equipment brought through Busan port to units across the country. The USFK plans to conduct an independent investigation once the fire is fully extinguished.
HD Hyundai has launched new equipment aimed at making construction sites more efficient and intelligent.
Virtual reality and augmented reality equipment used at HD Hyundai’s headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, were also installed at HD Hyundai Infracore’s booth for visitors to learn more about how to control construction equipment.
“Construction equipment can be a solution for the sustainability of human beings,” an HD Hyundai XiteSolution official said. “We tried to make the general public find connections between their everyday lives and the construction equipment industry.”
Both HD Hyundai XiteSolution subsidiaries opened separate zones for children and teenagers to better enjoy the event.
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment brought a transformable toy excavator, dumper truck, and wheel loader to its booth. The firm also invited Ulsan HD FC forward Um Won-sang to sign autographs for football fans at the convention.
HD Hyundai Infracore allowed children to control a full-scale excavator to scoop up balls from a ball pool. The company also installed a playground at its booth so children could ride on mock-up machines.
