Heavy rainfall in Busan created a huge sinkhole — 10 meters by 5 meters with a depth of 8 meters — engulfing two big trucks, early Saturday.

According to local authorities, the two trucks were trapped by the hole around 8:45 a.m. No one was injured. The city was hit by heavy rain since Friday.

Less than a month ago, many were shocked by a sinkhole engulfing an old couple in a car on a road in Seoul.

Construction companies are making efforts to attract young jobseekers.

GS E&C, for instance, is allowing applicants to dress casually for the first time in its upcoming recruitment events, aiming to foster a more relaxed and open environment. The company is also adopting paperless interviews with a closer seating arrangement to encourage freer communication through tablet computers. GS E&C’s employees have been promoting the company’s recruitment process on social media and visiting universities to present their corporate culture as flexible and horizontal.

Similarly, Hyundai E&C hosted a pop-up recruiting event to showcase its recruitment process and work environment, while Hyundai Engineering invited applicants to its headquarters for an industry outlook briefing. Second-tier firms like HL D&I Halla are also using social media to promote their hiring efforts and visiting universities to attract potential recruits.

Despite a current slump in the construction industry, these firms recognize the long-term need for young talent. According to the Construction Engineer Policy Institute of Korea, only 16.5% of construction engineers last year were in their 20s and 30s, while over half were in their 50s and 60s. The industry's image issues, particularly regarding safety and corruption, have deterred young engineers from entering the field, raising concerns about the sector’s future competitiveness.

To address these challenges, industry insiders stress the importance of devising strategies to improve the industry's appeal to young professionals.

BLACKPINK's music video for 'How You Like That' has surpassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube.

The music video for K-pop girl group BLACKPINK's 2020 hit "How You Like That" has surpassed 1.3 billion views on YouTube, the group's agency said Saturday.

YG Entertainment said the video passed the milestone at 6:22 a.m., about four years and three months after the video was uploaded in June 2020, becoming the group's sixth video to exceed 1.3 billion views.

"How You Like That" is an empowering anthem that encourages listeners to rise above any challenge and reach for their dreams.

It achieved significant recognition, winning Song of The Summer at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards in the United States and topping YouTube's Global Top Summer Song list that same year.

The song also reached 33rd and 20th on the Hot 100 main singles chart of the U.S. Billboard and the British Official Singles Chart Top 100, respectively.

The dance performance video for the song is also approaching 1.7 billion views on YouTube.

BLACKPINK will launch a new world tour next year. another milestone for her as the first K-pop female solo artist to accomplish this.
