The Korean President is on vacation πŸŒ…

President Yoon Suk Yeol will go on a summer vacation starting Monday, a presidential official said Sunday.

Yoon will primarily visit and stay at various locations outside Seoul to help stimulate the local economy, and the exact duration of the vacation remains flexible, the official noted without disclosing the itinerary.

Yoon's vacation is expected to include visits across the country to meet and encourage uniformed workers, as well as a stop at a traditional marketplace.

"Even during the vacation, the president will handle all his official schedules and duties," the presidential official said.

Several presidential advisers will reportedly accompany Yoon on his vacation to provide briefings on key outstanding issues. (Yonhap)

S. Korea reclaims No. 2 spot in Chinese import market amid export rebound

As the semiconductor industry rebounds, South Korea's exports to China have shown a strong recovery, helping the country reclaim its position as the second-largest supplier in the Chinese import market during the first half of this year. In July, South Korea's exports to China increased by 14.9% year-on-year, reaching $11.4 billion, the highest in 21 months.

From January to July, exports to China totaled $74.8 billion, surpassing exports to the U.S. and making China South Korea's largest export market again. The recovery was driven by a 25.9% increase in semiconductor exports, particularly in intermediate IT goods like memory chips and display components.

As a result, South Korea's share in China's import market rose to 6.7% in the first half of the year, reclaiming the second spot after falling to third place last year.
