North Korea resumes sending trash-filled balloons across the border into South Korea.

This photo, captured from an observation tower in Paju, a western border city in South Korea, shows garbage-filled balloons launched from North Korea's Kaepung County, North Hwanghae Province, heading towards South Korea on the morning of September 5, 2024.

A man dies after a four-hour search for a doctor following an accident at a construction site.

A construction worker in his 70s tragically died after falling from a building site in Busan and facing significant delays in receiving emergency surgery. The accident occurred in Gijang County, Busan, when the worker fell from the second floor of a building under construction. Emergency services were called at 8:11 a.m., and paramedics arrived quickly to stabilize the man, who appeared to have suffered a spinal fracture.

Despite immediate efforts, paramedics were unable to find a hospital that could admit him for surgery. Eight regional emergency centers declined due to capacity issues. After contacting nine facilities, Kosin University Gospel Hospital in Busan accepted the patient but lacked the resources for the necessary surgery.

The patient was transferred 50 kilometers to the hospital, arriving more than an hour after the accident. Although diagnosed with a spinal fracture that risked lung damage, the hospital's shortage of thoracic surgeons meant it could not perform the required surgery. After several hours of basic life support and continued attempts to find another hospital, the worker passed away at 12:24 p.m.

This incident occurred amid ongoing strain on South Korea’s healthcare system, worsened by a nationwide doctors' strike in February, which has led to reduced emergency services and delays in care.

Korean beauty companies are expanding in India

Korean beauty companies are expanding in India, driven by growing local demand for cosmetics and anti-aging products. Startups like Velymonkeys, which operates the online platform Maccaron, and major firms like Amorepacific are establishing operations to tap into the booming market. Velymonkeys saw sales surge from $2.4 million in 2022 to $11 million in 2023, reflecting India's rising interest in K-beauty products featuring natural ingredients like ginseng and licorice.

The Indian beauty market is projected to grow 10% annually from 2022 to 2027, far exceeding the global average. Major Korean companies are forming partnerships, such as Nine Tails' MOU with the Indian government, to further develop and promote their products. With 70% of India's population under 35, the country offers vast potential for growth in the beauty sector.

Singer Younha explores ocean-inspired themes in her latest release, GROWTH THEORY.

Two years after the success of "END THEORY," singer-songwriter Younha has released "GROWTH THEORY," marking her 20th anniversary in music. Dropped on Sept. 1, this album continues her "THEORY" trilogy, shifting from space exploration to an oceanic adventure, reflecting on marine life and personal growth.

In an interview, Younha described the album as her most impressive work, embracing rock and all the musical challenges she's aspired to. "I like this one the most," she said, highlighting her deep personal investment and attachment to the project.

The album features 10 tracks, including "Sunfish," "Mangrove Tree," and "East Wind." The concept was inspired by Younha's trip to Australia, where a mangrove tree sparked the idea of a girl embarking on an ocean voyage.

Younha aimed to make the album immersive, allowing listeners to feel like they're part of the journey. The title track, "Sunfish," symbolizes following one’s own path despite challenges, inspired by the resilient and versatile nature of the sunfish.
