South Korea ventures into uncharted territory.
South Korea is facing a historic political crisis as investigators failed to arrest suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol on serious charges of inciting insurrection. Early Friday, police and investigators tried to enter Yoon's residence but were blocked by his security team and loyal supporters.
Yoon's security forces, including armed officers, formed a human barrier, preventing entry. Supporters camped outside, chanting slogans and claiming victory when the arrest attempt was abandoned. Investigators said safety concerns forced them to retreat.
Yoon was impeached three weeks ago, but his refusal to cooperate and ability to rally support have created chaos. Authorities have until January 6 to try again, but growing resistance makes it uncertain how this will end. This situation raises questions about law enforcement's power and South Korea's democratic stability.

Korean business leaders pledge renewed efforts for a rebound in 2025.
Business leaders in Korea pledged to drive economic recovery in 2025 during a New Year gathering hosted by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) in Seoul. Around 600 attendees, including top executives, government officials, and foreign delegates, participated in the event, emphasizing entrepreneurship as the key to turning challenges into opportunities.
KCCI Chairman Chey Tae-won highlighted the need for continuous efforts to stabilize the economy despite uncertainties and urged political stability. He also called for innovation to address social problems and support future growth.
The event included major business leaders like Samsung’s Lee Jae-yong, Hyundai’s Chung Euisun, and LG’s Koo Kwang-mo. Representatives from foreign embassies, trade associations, and labor unions also joined. Participants stressed that collaboration among all economic sectors is essential for overcoming current challenges.
A separate gathering for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) urged legislative action to improve public livelihoods and consistent government policies to support economic growth.

BLACKPINK's Rosé climbs back to No. 2 on the British Official Chart with 'APT.'
BLACKPINK's Rose has reclaimed the No. 2 spot on the British Official Singles Chart Top 100 with her latest single, "APT.," featuring Bruno Mars. The song made an impressive leap of 26 places in its 11th week on the chart, matching its previous peak.
Initially debuting at No. 4 in late October, "APT." climbed to No. 2 the following week and remained in the Top 5 for several weeks before briefly dropping to No. 28. The track surged back to the second spot with the new year. Gracie Abrams' "That's So True" currently holds the top position.
"APT." is a prerelease from Rose's first solo full-length album, Rosie, released on Dec. 6. The upbeat pop-punk track draws inspiration from a popular Korean drinking game called the "apartment game," with its catchy chorus emphasizing the word "apartment," or "apateu" in Korean. The song's unique concept and global collaboration have contributed to its widespread appeal.
