Wrongly Introduction to North Korea

Olympic organizers have issued a "deep apology" after mistakenly introducing South Korea's athletes as North Korea during the opening ceremony in Paris. As South Korea's team floated down the River Seine, both French and English announcers referred to them as the "Democratic People's Republic of Korea," North Korea's official name. The error was corrected when North Korea's delegation passed, and the correct title appeared on the television subtitle. South Korea's sports ministry plans to lodge a "strong complaint" with France and has expressed regret over the incident. Vice Sports Minister Jang Mi-ran has requested a meeting with Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) apologized on its Korean-language X account. South Korea has 143 athletes competing in 21 sports, while North Korea has sent 16 athletes, marking its first participation since the 2016 Rio Games.

A high level of security given to actor Byeon Woo-seok.

The International Airport Corporation has filed a complaint against a private security firm for allegedly excessive security measures taken for actor Byeon Woo-seok. The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK) is investigating potential human rights violations. The complaint, lodged with Incheon Airport Police, concerns the security team's actions on July 12, which included unauthorized control of airport gates and passenger ticket inspections. Three out of six guards are under investigation for threatening behavior, including using flashlights to deter fans. The police are considering charges such as assault, coercion, obstruction of business, and security protocol violations. The complaint follows an apology by Lee Hag-jae, CEO of Incheon Airport Corporation, who acknowledged the corporation's oversight failures. He condemned the security actions as unlawful and announced plans to create guidelines for private security firms and consider punitive measures for violations.
